JoSAA Counseling
The JoSAA counseling process includes the following stages.
Stage 1: Registration in JoSAA 2021
The first step is to register with JoSAA. Applicants who will appear for JEE Main must login to their account with their JEE Main 2021 list number and password, while eligible candidates for JEE Advanced must use their examination credentials.
After logging in, applicants will be able to see details like name, gender, state eligibility code, etc. In this step, candidates will need to verify and reconfirm all details. Remember, candidates will not be able to modify any other details during registration except for their personal data.
Stage 2: Fill and Choice lock options
Implementation of Selection – After successful completion of the JoSAA 2021 registration process, candidates will need to complete their selection of universities and branches based on their preferences. Depending on the applicant’s eligibility, the options available for admission will be listed. Once the options are entered, applicants will be able to organize their selections according to their preferences using the “Organize full options” option.
- Option Lock – After completing the options, candidates are required to lock their options and make a hard copy of the chosen option for all future references.
- JoSAA Mock Allocation – Prior to conducting the actual seat assignment rounds, JoSAA will conduct two mock seat assignments to help candidates get an idea of their chances of getting into the university of their choice based on their rank and preference. Candidates will then have the opportunity to adjust their chosen faculties and courses accordingly.
Stage 3: Announcing the allocation of seats and the list of ranks
At this stage, the candidates will be assigned universities and branches based on their rank, class, preferences and seat availability. There are a total of 7 JoSAA 2021 seat assignment rounds, the results of which will be announced online. To view the seating assignment results, candidates will need to login to their account with the JEE Main/JEE Advanced List number and password.
Applicants who are satisfied with their assigned seats can proceed to the next step to download the provisional appointment letter and pay the seat acceptance fee.
Noticeable:
- For applicants who choose the floating or sliding option, the assignment of a seat in a better/more preferred academic program will automatically result in the forfeiture of the seat they accepted in the previous round.
- Slide and Float options are only for candidates who have not been accepted into their first college or preferred course.
- Slide and float options are not available in the last round for seat acceptance.
- However, in the final round of JoSAA seating assignments, candidates will be able to switch from float to slide/freeze and from slide to freeze when reporting in the Report Center.
