The UPSC is Union Public Service Commission exam is the toughest entrance examination in India. Syllabus 2020 for Mains Round

Here is the syllabus for the 7 papers that the candidates need to appear for the Mains round.

Paper 1 – the first paper of the Mains requires the candidates to write an essay which will be based on a specific topic. The essay will be required to stay close to the main idea of the main subject that has been given. The ideas and style of writing should be concise and crisp. The total marks of this paper are 250.

Paper 2 – the second paper of the Mains is based on General Studies I: Indian Heritage and Culture, History, and Geography of the World and Society. This paper is usually based on the Indian heritage of both ancient and modern times along with history and geography of the world. The total marks of this paper are 250.

Paper 3 – the third paper for the Mains is based completely on General Studies II: Governance, Constitution, Polity, Social Justice and International relations. The candidates will deal with questions that are relevant to the Indian Constitution, Social Justice, and International relations. The total marks of this paper are 250.

Paper 4 – the fourth paper of the Mains is based on the General Studies III: Technology, Economic Development, Biodiversity, Environment, Security and Disaster Management. The candidates will deal with various questions relating to Technology, Bio-Diversity and Disaster Management. The total marks of this paper are 250.

Paper 5 – the fifth paper of the Mains is based on General Studies IV: Ethics, Integrity, and Aptitude. The candidates will need to answer questions related to Ethics, Integrity, and Aptitude. The total marks of this paper are 250.

Paper 6 and Paper 7 – the last two exams of the Mains deals with Optional Subject- Paper 1 and 2. The candidates will need to choose any subject of their preference and any language they are comfortable with for the language paper. Both the examinations are conducted for 250 marks.
