Square Root of Non Perfect Squares in Seconds

One of the most common topics that can be seen in most of the aptitude tests of different entrance examinations like SBI PO, SBI Clerk, SSC CGL, etc. is the squares and cubes. These are some important formulas which you need to be absolutely confident of carrying out in the exams. Conventionally most of us have been taught how to find the square root of a number back at our schools, right? You must be really familiar with the “long division method”.

But today we will be discussing with you how you are going to find out the square root of a number using the shortcut method. Have a look at the steps we are going to mention.

Why the shortcut method is beneficial?

Finding the right square root of a number is very important. It is a common question in several competitive exams which include SSC CGL, SSC CHSL, etc. Therefore it will surely help you score better marks in these exams. But finding the right square root of a number is a lengthy process if you follow the long division method. So one of the Maths important tricks is the shortcut method. It helps you to save time and find the right answer quickly. Now we will check how you are going to do that.

How to find a quick square root of a number?

When you need to find the perfect square roots in seconds it is important that you are aware of the shortcut method. So here are the important steps that you will need to follow in order to get an answer within a few seconds.

Step 1 – we will take the number 576 in order to show you the example of finding the quickest method to find the square root. Have a look at the square table and check which of the squares end with 6. So we can find that 16, square of 4 and 36 square of 6 are the squares which end with the number 6. This is the very step of the math important trick to find out the square in the shortcut method.

Step 2 – so you will need to note down both 4 and 6. Among these two numbers, one of them will be the units digits of the square root we have.

Step 3 – Now in the third step we can actually ignore the units and all the tens digits which have moved to the hundreds digit which is the number 5. Find out which is the closest square to the digit 5 and yes it is 4, square of 2. Therefore our tens digit in the square is the number 2.

Step 4 – multiply the tens digit of the given square of the root we need to find out, 2 to the number that follows, i.e. 3. Now we move to the final step.

Step 5 – in the final step, you will need to compare the multiple that we found out in the previous step. You will need to check if 5 is greater or lesser than the multiple. Since the number 5 is less than 6, between 4 and the digit 6 for unit digit, we can actually choose 4. Therefore the square root of 576 is 24.

So here are the various steps which you will need to follow in order to learn the maths important trick that will help you find the square root of any number without fail. We have also shown a small example of how you can play with numbers to put them into use for your own benefit. Make sure to read all the steps that we have mentioned and calculate the square root of any number within a few seconds.
