The Minister of Education holds a discussion on digital education with officials

Federal Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan held a meeting with officials from the Ministry of Education and Indian Skills, Prasar Bharati and BISAG. During the meeting, a discussion was held on “The Universality of Quality Education through Digital Education”.

The Minister of Education announced from his Twitter account that “with officials from EduMinOfIndia, MSDESkillIndia, prasarbharati and BISAG, they held a discussion on universalizing quality education through digital education.”

The minister explained that the main objective of this discussion is to bridge the digital divide and reach the unreached. “Our goal is to achieve greater inclusion in education. We advocate an innovative approach to leveraging technology to expand existing platforms into the education and skills development spectrum,” he wrote on Twitter.

The meeting also focused on key aspects of digital learning, including: ‘reaching the unreached’, ‘bridging the digital divide’, ‘preventing exploitation’ and ‘promoting inclusion’. These initiatives aim to benefit millions of families and make the concept of digital education accessible to all.

While describing it as an innovative approach, he stressed that the government is preparing comprehensive education measures to engage the masses in the digital education initiative. It will also help improve skills development and expand existing platforms.

The minister said a committee could be formed under the chairmanship of the Secretary, DoSE&L with senior officials from School Education, Higher Education, Ministry of Skills Development, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Department of Communications, Prassar Bharti, Department of I&B and BISAG-N and Department of Space.

The discussion focused on leveraging satellite and internet technology to develop an integrated digital ecosystem. The minister called for an innovative approach to leveraging technology to expand existing platforms to include all spectrums of school education, higher education, skills development and teacher training. He called for strengthening and expanding the existing Swayam Prabha initiative and synergies initiatives such as the National Digital Education Architecture (NDEAR) and the National Education Technology Forum (NETF). Shri Pradhan emphasized the need to bridge the digital divide and reach the unreached in order to increase inclusion in education.
